Baton Rouge - The flag draped coffin of former Louisiana Governor David Treen was carried into the State Capitol rotunda Monday by members of the military for a memorial service.
Treen, who became the state's first Republican governor since the reconstruction era, died last at the age of 81.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores "Dodie" Treen and is survived by three children, grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Governor Jindal is joined in remembering Treen during the service by former governors Kathleen Blanco, Mike Foster and Buddy Roemer and Lieutenant Governor MItch Landrieu.
Jindal said: "May God Bless Dave Treen and his entire family," for his stellar service to Louisiana.
Visitation begins at 1pm and ends at 5 p.m. Treen will be buried Tuesday.
