New Orleans - The New Orleans Recreational Department will be participating in important city events this week as well as operating pools by Saturday July 4th.
The 2nd annual Ashanti Awards will be Wednesday, July 1st at The Louis Armstrong Park. The Ashanti Awards acknowledges and thanks cultural Ambassadors and Legends in New Orleans by recognizing and esteeming the accomplishment of our city finest career achievers. The event time is 10am –2:00pm and 3000 NORD kids are expected to attend this event.
The Essence Youth Outreach Program along with Mayor Nagin will be Thursday July 2nd at the Ernest for 10 am. Morial Convention Center
My Black is Beautiful Event will acknowledge three kids that participated in Poetry, Rap and Song Contest. The kids will showcase their talent and be acknowledged at this event. The three winners were Rudy Johnson, Paris Martin and Jonathan Collins.
NORD schedules to open the following pools on Saturday, July 4th from 9am to 4pm. Lyons, Stallings, Whitney Young, and Sampson & Behrman.
