Metairie - Jefferson Parish is waiving fees for inspections and permits property owners need related to problems with defective Chinese drywall. Permits are still needed for the replacement of drywall, but the permits and inspections won't cost homeowners anything as they work to fix their homes.
Many area homeowners have run into problems associated with some tainted Chinese drywall. It's been blamed for damage to electrical wiring, heating and air conditioning units and more.
