Just about every bar and restaurant in town is looking for a slice of Super Bowl business. Employees at one Maple Street pub are getting ready for big black and gold crowds come Super Sunday.
Rick Graham, owner of the Doors Pub, says he is making adjustments to his facilities, adding "it would be impossible not to embrace the freight train the Saints are driving." Along with adding three more televisions, Graham says they have also increased toilet facilities and plan on bringing in more staff to accommodate the crowds.
So why is it called the Doors Pub? Every table in the place is a door. The walls, the bar and even the ceiling are made of doors complete with doorknobs and knockers. All are Katrina doors, some made of cypress, others of pine, and some possibly 250 years old!
After finding the doors, Graham says they decided to "decorate the heck out of the place." Behind every door is someone's old address. Mixed in with all the doors there's a lot of Who Dat spirit.
Graham says the doors at the Doors Pub tell the story of a city that is rising, much like the New Orleans Saints.
