St. Bernard - A Saint Bernard Parish judge and two attorneys face federal charges of conspiracy in a bribery scheme.

Judge Wayne Cresap, and lawyers Sal Cusimano, Jr. and V.J. Dauterive were charged jointly in a bill of information.

Here's how the feds say the scheme worked: when clients of Cusimano or Dauterive coudln't afford their bond, the attorneys would call Cresap and have it changed from a secured bond to one that releases the inmate with just a signature. The feds say the two attornies would then pay Cresap cash for his help.

If convicted, the three men face a maximum prison term of five years and a $250,000 fine.

Cresap is on a leave of absence from the Saint Bernard court.
