The 2009 Hurricane Season's 9th named storm (Ida) formed this afternoon and is nearing hurricane force as she drifts near the coast of Nicaragua tonight.
Since she will over land tomorrow and Friday, she will weaken back to an area of low pressure bringing life threatening rains to central America.
By Saturday she could emerge back over the Caribbean and once again become a Tropical Storm. As she heads northward towards the southern Gulf late Sunday, fast upper level wind shear will prevent any further strengthening and Ida should turn eastward towards south Florida.
Ida will north threaten the northern Gulf as another cold front is expected to push down from the north ahead of her.
