New Orleans - Authorities have found the body of a man who fell into the Mississippi River when the dock he was sitting on collapsed into the water.

Jim Dugan, 41, was sitting on the dock a week ago near Chartres and Alvar streets with a woman when the structure collapsed. The woman, identified by Dugan's mother as his girlfriend, swam to safety, but rescuers could not find Dugan.

Authorities and workers from Equusearch used sonar equipment to help find Dugan, whose body was discovered Tuesday morning tangled in the debris left from the collapsed dock.

Workers are having difficulty getting to Dugan, but despite the challenges, crews remain on the scene working to recover the victim’s body.

Whereas I do not agree with 504Realist or Steve or whatever his name is, where's his 1st Amendment right to speak his mind even if its not popular or really sensible? Now that I got that out of the way... I do agree for the most part that this was tragic and shouldn't have happened but I also think that Mr.Dugan is partially to blame for his own demise as well as it also falls on his friend for not reporting it immediately. But I digress... I wasn't fortunate enough to meet Jim but through all this and all I have read I feel like I have an I wish the city and the friends of Jim an easy recovery from this tragedy.

I feel bad for this mans family, friends and especially his daughter... Its very sad. But I don't believe its NOPD's fault he is dead. I'm sure his autopsy will show what him and Kelly were doing, She cant even remember what happened... I think falling into the Mississippi River would sober most up real quick!!! R.I.P James Dugan

Please note that Rock'n'Bowl does not condone in anyway the comments offered by 504Realist. An investigation is being pursued at this moment by both Rock'n'Bowl and Fox8. Please remember that internet posts are easily falsified and erroneous. It is hard to believe that an employee here would put his fellow employees in such a dangerous environment. We at Rock'n'Bowl offer our sympathies to the friends and family of Mr. Dugan.

i'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that this 504realist dipshit does not work at rock-n-bowl. maybe he has an enemy who does. i'm guessing someone so vapid and outspoken has his fair share of enemies.

Thanks for the ignorant comments Steven. We may just move this evening's vigil to the bowling alley and make your life more hell than it obviously already is. I'd say you're just jealous that you never had anyone that loved you enough to teach you humility and how to be a real New Orleanian or stand up for you or others. You are exactly the kind of person that Jim himself would stand up for and defend if you were in need. No matter what color, race, income, etc. It's ignorance and hateful attitudes like yours that cause the divide in this city....not hipsters.

I hope that Rock-n-Bowl is excited to have their name associated with such anger, stupidity and vileness. I mean, I certainly don't want to support a business that is ok with its employee calling for another Katrina. I imagine Jim's other many friends in the city aren't too enthusiastic about spending their money at a place that employs someone like this either.

504Realist, you are a total dickk. I don't think anyone here is blaming anyone, but why don't you keep in mind that Jim's mother might be reading these comments. She flew in early this week from New York to find her son, and just found out this morning that he's under debris in the river. His brother is also here. I've known Jimmy for many years, and he is from good stock, he has a great family, and many great friends that LOVE him. He has never been anything but supportive, and sweet, and fun as long as I've known him. This isn't Darwinism, this was a gate open to a dock that shouldn't have been open. It was 2 people hanging out late at night, having a few drinks. (This NEVER happens with New Orleans service industry who work in the french quarter).... It could have happened to anyone. Why Kelly didn't call 911 right away? Well there are a lot of people asking that question. Personally, I'm livid over the fact that she's changed her story a few times already, and did not try to get help right after this happened. Why the f*ck did she wait a whole day? Who does that? We might never know. But as for the rude comments, You can hide behind some stupid screen name all you want, and say whatever you please, but we know you have a family too. You would not want someone saying something like that about your brother or sister or mother, so don't say it about someone who was a dear friend of mine. Jim has a 7 year old daughter, and a family who loves him very much. Posting rude comments only hours after we found his body is about as low down and disrespectful as it gets. Watch out that Darwinism doesn't come back to bite you in the ass.
