NEW ORLEANS (AP) - New Orleans police are investigating a shooting that left two men dead and an 18-year-old man injured. Police answered a call to shots fired about 1:30 this morning and found two men in a red four-door Jaguar suffering from gunshot wounds.

PORT ALLEN, La. (AP) - West Baton Rouge Parish officials say they have received word that relief is on the way for daily congestion along La. Highway 1 and the Mississippi River bridge on Interstate 10.

In a July 10 letter, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development informed school leaders its traffic engineers are working on a comprehensive review of signal timing throughout the La. 1 corridor.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The East Baton Rouge Parish school system will provide free lunch to its almost 42,000 students, including thousands who in the past had to pay for their meals. The change takes effect Aug. 11, the start of the next school year.

AMITE, La. (AP) - The Tangipahoa Parish Council has agreed to a proposed Access Health Louisiana clinic designed for those without health insurance or in a low-income bracket. The company's executive director says establishing and staffing a health clinic in the parish depends on Access Health Louisiana's ability to win a federal grant.
