Tim Whitmer expected to plead guilty today

New Orleans - Former Jefferson Parish CAO Tim Whitmer heads back to federal court today to change his plea in a parish corruption scandal.

In January, Whitmer pleaded not guilty to one count of misprison of a felony.

At the time, his attorney said Whitmer was cooperating with investigators and would eventually plead guilty.

That's expected to happen this afternoon.

Whitmer is accused of concealing fraud and theft involving government programs through his role in hiring parish employees, awarding salary increases and contract selection.
