Local civil rights leaders demand firing of police officer over insensitive online posts

New Orleans--Local civil rights leaders are calling for the immediate firing of a New Orleans Police officer who admitted posting insensitive comments online.  That officer, Jason Giroir was also involved in the recent deadly shooting of 20 year old Justin Sipp.

Local NAACP President Danatus King and members of the Inter-Denominational Ministerial Alliance along with other concerned citizens gathered this morning to address local and national news media.

The press conference followed Police Chief Ronal Serpas' statement yesterday that Giroir made inappropriate comments about Trayvon Martin, the teenager shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer in Florida.  Martin's death has ignited a firestorm around the country because he was unarmed at the time of his death and the man who shot him is not facing any charges.
