Jefferson Parish -- The search continues for a Lafitte man who disappeared Wednesday morning during severe weather.

Louis Adams, or 'Bill' as he's known to many, was last seen getting into his pirogue on Bayou Barataria at 7:00 Wednesday morning to head to work.  Late Thursday afternoon, the pirogue was located on the bayou floor.

It's been an agonizing two days for Adams' family. Sister Roselee Williams said, "I think the boat kinda just toppled over and he was lost."

Adams paddled in his pirogue from his house to Nunez Seafood on the other side of the bayou every day for 40 years.  It was only a 250-foot trek.

His family says Adams was a good swimmer, had he been thrown from the boat during rough weather, but he had recently suffered a stroke.  "I think it was his hand, he had no strength, but he was persistent. He thought he could do it."

Search crews from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office searched the bayou along with residents who knew Adams. Albert Santini told us, "We worked together for a long time and everybody wanted to look for him."
