MORGAN CITY, La. (AP) - Offshore engineering provider Oceaneering International Inc. says it will spend $5 million to expand its Morgan City facility, creating 200 new jobs.
Houston-based Oceaneering said Monday that 120 of the new workers will be trained to produce remotely operated vehicles that can perform offshore petroleum tasks and inspections at up to two miles in depth. The other workers will support Oceaneering's other activities, including diving, rigging, inspection and administration.
The company said hiring has started and will continue through 2012. Oceaneering's Morgan City base will be expanded by 30,000 square feet in November, bringing the facility to 200,000 square feet.
Oceaneering said it currently employs 1,700 workers in the Morgan City area.
