NOPD wins appeal on one man police units

The state's Board of Review agreed with the NOPD that the practice of one-officer patrol cars is safe and not a valid reason for a former officer to quit his job.

Stephen Lindsey claimed he resigned in June of last year because working alone on patrol made the job too dangerous.

An administrative law judge had agreed.

Lindsey was trying to pursue unemployment benefits.

The review board held that the nature of police work is inherently dangerous and Lindsey assumed the risk when he took the job.
