Report says Kenner Convention and Visitors Bureau misused public money

Kenner, La. - A report from the Louisiana legislative auditor says the Kenner Convention and Visitors Bureau misused public money.

The report clears the City of Kenner and its employees from any wrong doing.

Mayor Mike Yenni says the auditor backs up what the city of Kenner's audit committee found last year; that there was little accountability for nearly $250,000 a year that went to the KCVB from a hotel-motel tax.

The legislative auditor details unauthorized use of public funds by the executive director, improper payments to a board member and daughter and improper bonuses paid to the executive director.

Back in August, Kenner cut off revenue to the visitors bureau and re-directed that money to the Jefferson Parish Convention and Visitors Bureau.
