Body found Monday in N.O. East is 15-year-old girl

New Orleans, La. - Police confirm a 15-year-old girl is the city's latest murder victim.

Investigators say a homeless man found the body in a secluded area in New Orleans East Monday morning.

Officers responded to the 5000 block of Alcee Fortier Boulevard in the Village D'Lest Subdivision.  Investigators say the girl was found lying face down.  She'd been shot several times.

Investigators identify the girl as 15-year-old Christine Marcelin. She was a student at KIPP Believe College Prep.

Marcelin is the second KIPP student to be murdered in four days.

On Friday, Brandon Adams was shot to death in the Desire neighborhood.

Adams and Marcelin were friends and may even have been dating.

Police haven't yet said if the two deaths are related.

Security was increased at KIPP Believe College Prep Tuesday with NOPD officers standing guard at the front door.

A vigil will be held for Marcelin Wednesday at 6pm at the school.
