New Orleans, La. - A large section of eastern New Orleans is under a boil water advisory.

A 30-inch water main broke around 11 p.m., dropping water pressure to extremely low levels.

The affected area is bounded by Morrison Road, Hayne Boulevard, Downman Road and Bullard Road.

Crews repaired the damaged water line, but the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans has issued the boil water order as a precautionary measure.

  • Boil water for one full minute in a clean container.  The one-minute boil time begins after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (If there is a flat taste, it can be eliminated by shaking the water in a bottle or pouring it from one container to another.)

This boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice for customers in the affected area.
