House fire kills woman

BOGALUSA, La. (AP) - A 79-year-old Bogalusa woman is dead following a fire at her home.

According to the State Fire Marshal's office, Audrey Gann, was pronounced dead Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in a Monday afternoon fire.

First responders to the fire discovered that Gann and her daughter, 49-year-old Susan Gann, had suffered burns as a result of a fire that had been extinguished prior to their arrival. Further investigation revealed that Susan Gann extinguished the flames which had partially engulfed her mother.

Audrey Gann sustained severe burns and was transported to the Burn Center at Baton Rouge General Hospital, where she died. Susan Gann received less severe burns while extinguishing the fire and was treated at the Bogalusa Medical Center.
