Belle Chasse man killed in Friday night crash

Belle Chasse, La.- Police investigate an accident involving a gasoline tanker Friday night that claimed the life of 22-year-old Adrijan Dekovic of Belle Chasse.

Louisiana State Police Troop B say the accident happened on Belle Chasse Highway near Concord Street.

Investigators say Dekovic, who was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe, was traveling south on Belle Chasse Highway approaching Concord Street in the right lane when he struck the rear of a tanker trailer.

Dekovic was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the tanker, identified as 44-year-old John Preston, was stopped in the right lane of the highway attempting to back into the Circle K's parking lot at the time of the crash.

Preston did not receive any injuries in the crash and police say no chemicals leaked from the tanker.

Troopers do not suspect alcohol to be a factor in the accident at this time and toxicology tests are pending.

This crash remains under investigation.
