Divers find pilot's body of crashed helicopter in Gulf of Mexico

Grand Isle, La.- Divers found the body of the pilot whose helicopter crashed in the Gulf of Mexico Monday.

A good Samaritan dive team from the vessel Ocean Inspector located the pilot inside the aircraft's cockpit.

According Coast Guard officials, the crash happened just after 4 p.m. about 35 miles southwest of Grand Isle.

A Coast Guard spokesman says the helicopter was completely submerged when search crews arrived to the scene.

The pilot's identity has not yet been released.

The Coast Guard says it is a commercially owned helicopter that is used to transport people to and from oil platforms.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
