Pilot identified in Monday's helicopter crash

Lafayette, La. - The identity of the pilot killed in Monday's helicopter crash in the Gulf has been released.

According to the owner of the aircraft, the pilot was Arturo Ignacio Lebron of Lafayette.

A PHI helicopter went down about 35 miles south of Grand Isle around 4pm.

Hours later, a search and rescue team recovered Lebron's body.

The National Transportation Saftey Board will investigate the accident.

PHI spokesman Brad Deutser said, "It is with heavy hearts that his colleagues and each of us at PHI, extend our most heartfelt condolences to his family.

We will continue to work closely with the NTSB to understand the cause of the accident and anything that can be learned to prevent situations like this in the future."
