Kitten rescued from Causeway Bridge

Metairie, La. - A kitten rescued from the Causeway Bridge is lucky to be alive, but it may be necessary to amputate's the cat's badly broken back leg.

The cat was discovered on the bridge Tuesday morning during rush hour traffic.  Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou says a patrolman with the Motorist Assistance Patrol was able to rescue the cat and bring it to a south shore veterinarian for treatment.  Dufrechou says other than the broken leg, the cat is overall in very good shape.

It's not clear whether the car was discarded on the bridge or just happened to crawl into a car's tire well beforehand and fell out on the bridge.  Dufrechou says there were no witnesses who have come forward who saw someone throw the cat out of a car window.
