SULPHUR, La. (AP) - "American Idol" finalist Joshua Ledet is performing for his home state at a free, picnic-style concert in Sulphur, roughly eight miles east of his hometown of Westlake.
Ledet finished in third place on the Fox reality TV singing competition in which fans across America vote for their favorite performers. Phillip Phillips, a guitar-wielding crooner from Leesburg, Ga., won the competition last month. But towns across southwest Louisiana championed Ledet.
Mayor Chris Duncan says town officials have been working for days to organize the concert picnic, which is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Heritage Square.
Fans planning to attend are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets for seating.
Alcohol and smoking are prohibited.
