Four local men ordained as priests

New Orleans, La.- Archbishop Gregory Aymond ordained four local men into the Roman Catholic Priesthood.

Hundreds of family and friends packed the St. Louis Cathedral for a mass to welcome them into the Catholic Priesthood.

The new priests are Deacons: Emile "Buddy" Noel, Garrett O'Brien, Kyle Sanders and Kurt Young.

While the celebration continued, outside the St. Louis Cathedral there was silence from some with the Catholic Women's Ordination Group.

"This is a demonstration of support for women to have the opportunity to be ordained, if they feel called to the priesthood," says Jennifer Molina of the Catholic Women's Ordination Group.

"I certainly recognize them. I saw them as we were going into the Cathedral, we waved and we always have to be respectful and caring to those who disagree with us," says Archbishop Gregory Aymond of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

The four newly ordained priests will join approximately 200 active priests across the New Orleans Metro-Area.

Archbishop Gregory Aymond says 33 men are currently studying at the Notre Dame Seminary.
