SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) - A late-night shooting injured a 3-year-old girl at a Shreveport home.
Police said they were called at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday about the shooting.
Officers who responded found a 3-year-old girl suffering from a gunshot wound to her leg. She was taken to LSU Hospital by Shreveport fire medics with what police described as a serious wound. Shreveport police spokesman Sgt. Bill Goodin said they expect the child to survive.
A police news release said investigators believe the shooting was directed at the dwelling and that there may have been an exchange of gunfire.
Authorities found around 15 spent shell casings in an alley near the house. Police also discovered a handgun behind the home.
