Gray man arrested in sister’s murder

Gray, La. -  Joseph Voisin was arrested late Thursday night in connection with the murder of his sister.

Police responded to a call around 9 p.m. from a male subject who said that two people had been shot and were inside the residence at 125 Rhett Place.

The caller indicated that the suspect, Voisin, had already left the residence and fled the area.

Police were able to locate and detain Voisin within six minutes.

Upon making entry into the residence, the caller was found unharmed and he directed police to a rear bedroom where two subjects were located suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

The female victim, identified as Joseph's sister, 47-year-old Mary Voisin, was pronounced dead shortly after and investigators say she suffered two gunshot wounds.

The male victim, identified as 45-year-old Christopher Smith, is currently listed in critical condition. He suffers from four gunshot wounds.

Investigators say Smith was Mary Voisin's live-in boyfriend and they both victims lived at 125 Rhett Place with Joseph Voisin.

Joseph Voisin was arrested and charged with one count of second degree murder and one count of attempted second degree murder.

He currently is being held at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $575,000 bond.
