Bay St. Louis, Miss. -- Hancock County investigators have named two people as suspects in the murder of Jaren Lockhart.
28-year-old Margaret Sanchez and 39-year-old Terry Speaks are in custody on unrelated charges.
The two were seen on surveillance video with Lockhart on June 6, leaving the Bourbon Street strip club where Lockhart worked. Pieces of Lockhart's dismembered body then began washing up on Mississippi beaches.
Investigators say they received hundreds of tips, which led them to the couple Tuesday night. They were found in a restaurant in Tangipahoa Parish. Deputies there allowed them to leave the restaurant, and then conducted a traffic stop. Speaks tried to run, but didn't get far. Both he and Sanchez are charged with resisting arrest.
Investigators won't say whether the couple is cooperating with the murder investigation.
Sanchez is being held in Tangipahoa Parish on the resisting arrest charge. Speaks is in federal custody, as authorities learned he was wanted in North Carolina for failing to register as a sex offender.
Detectives on Wednesday searched a Kenner home where neighbors say Sanchez and Speaks were living. The home is located in the 2000 block of Connecticut Avenue.
The FBI, the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and the Kenner Police Department were among the law enforcement agencies that searched the inside of the home and the backyard. They also brought in dogs with the Louisiana K-9 Search and Rescue Unit.
When investigators wrapped up thier work for the day, they brought out several paper bags containing items collected from the house.
Neighbors say that the couple kept late hours and mostly kept to themselves. They say, at one time, Speaks worked for a club in the French Quarter. They says Sanchez has been working in the Quarter as well as a street performer.
