Slidell, La. -  The eastbound lanes of Interstate 12 were shut down between LA-434 and Airport Road because of a fatal accident Friday morning.

It happened just before 3:30 a.m.

Jeremy Tolden, 22, of Slidell, and Crystal Hall, 22, of Mandeville, were trying to cross the interstate when they were struck by Tyler Bier, 29, of Mandeville, according to state troopers.  Bier tried to veer left to avoid the collision, but was unable to do so in time, troopers said.

The St. Tammany Parish coroner pronounced Tolden and Hall dead.

Bier passed a blood test.   Investigators are unsure if Tolden or Hall were intoxicated.  Blood tests are pending.

No charges have been filed in the accident.
