Uptown traffic change

Updated:

New Orleans, La. - The City of New Orleans changed traffic flow because of concern from nearby residents.

For the next six months, Joseph Street between Magazine Street and Camp Street will go from two-way to one-way lake bound.

Residents have complained the street is not wide enough to safely handle two-way traffic.

The City mailed a survey to nearby residents asking for feedback on the traffic change and say the response was 100% in favor of the switch to one-way.

The portion of Joseph between Constance and Magazine is already one-way, so the trial change just extends that all the way to Camp Street.

During the six month trial, the Department of Public Works will monitor how it is working in order to decide whether to make the change permanent.
