Kenner, La. - Cars running on natural gas now have a place to fill up in Kenner.

The compressed natural gas fueling station opened on Airline Drive right across the street from Armstrong International Airport.

There aren't very many natural gas cars on the road, but shuttle buses at the airport run on CNG and justify the million dollar investment.

Clean Energy Fuels Corp. opened the new station.

The company's business development manager, James Ramsey, III, talks up the advantages, "This is great for our dependency on foreign oil. It offers an alternative to folks to be able to come out here and fuel with a fuel that's produced right here in the state of Louisiana."

Ramsey points out that Louisiana produces 30% of the nation's natural gas.

Ramsey says Clean Energy Fuels hopes to build more CNG stations in the New Orleans area as demand increases.

Unlike regular gas stations, they don't need deliveries from tanker trucks. The gas arrives via pipes the same way you get your natural gas at home.
