One dead in interstate crash in Slidell

One person is dead after a three-vehicle collision on I-12 in Slidell.

It happened about 6:20 Friday evening near the intersection of I-12 eastbound and Airport Road.

44-year-old Kevin Greenwood of Ormond Beach, FL. was traveling eastbound on I-12 in a Dodge pickup truck.

Due to traffic congestion, Greenwood failed to slow down and struck a Mazda in the rear.

The Mazda driven by 19-year-old Kristen Stoltman of Woodlands, TX. was pushed off the right side of the roadway into the ditch below. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her passenger, 20-year-old Jesse Stoltman of Magnolia, TX. received serious injuries and was taken to Frederick Memorial hospital for treatment.

After striking the Mazda, Greenwood's truck continued eastbound where it struck a 2006 Freightliner tractor-trailer and came to a stop.

State Police arrested Greenwood and conducted a breath test for alcohol.

The test showed Greenwood had alcohol in his system, but was not over the legal limit.

He has been charged with careless operation of a vehicle, negligent injuring and negligent homicide.
