Houma, La. - Two people were injured over the weekend after the car they were in crashed into a utility pole.
The accident happened at the intersection of Main and Canal Street in Houma about 12:30am.
Police say a 2002 Pontiac Bonneville driven by Shaquille Williams of Gibson struck a building then a utility pole.
Officers learned that Mr. Williams was chasing a truck in reference to an incident that occurred on Monarch Dr. when the car lost control and wrecked. Data was retrieved from the vehicle which showed that prior to braking the vehicle was traveling 99 MPH.
Mr. Williams and a passenger were both taken to the hospital where they were treated and released.
Williams was ticketed for Reckless Operation, No Insurance, Switched License Plate and Negligent Injury.
