Newest American Idol plans first performance post surgery

FOX- American Idol Philip Phillips will use the National Mall in Washington, D.C. for his comeback performance.

The 21 year old is scheduled to perform at this year's Fourth of July celebration in Washington D.C.

The performance will be his first in public since having kidney stones removed.

Phillips revealed earlier this year he suffers from chronic kidney problems that forced him to undergo a series of mini surgeries during his run for the American Idol title.
