Houma man booked with aggravated battery

Houma, La.- Terrebonne Parish Deputies responding to a disturbance report discover a man holding down a woman in the front yard.

Deputies say they restrained 30-year-old Charles Alden Edkins as he yelled and cursed at them.

Investigators say they learned he choked the 27-year-old victim until she passed out and threatened to kill her with a rifle and handgun. Deputies later found those weapons inside his house.

Witnesses told deputies the woman was visiting friends at Edkin's house on James Aitkens Lane in Houma.

The altercation with Edkins happened after those friends went to bed.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene for head and face injuries then took her to the hospital.

Edkins is booked with aggravated second degree battery, false imprisonment with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.
