Plaquemines Parish signs evacuation agreement with West Monroe

Belle Chasse, La. - Plaquemines Parish residents now have a safe place to evacuate to in the case of an emergency. This week, President Nungesser and the Director of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for Plaquemines Parish, Guy Laigast, traveled to West Monroe to sign an evacuation agreement with the city.

The point to point agreement insures that Plaquemines Parish residents will have a specific location to stay at in the case of an evacuation. The West Monroe Sports Complex will be made available along with food and medical services.

During a storm event, once residents are asked to evacuate, there will be 3 satellite pick up points in Plaquemines Parish. Residents will be taken by bus from those locations to the Belle Chasse Auditorium.

Once at the auditorium, there will be a registration process and from there residents will travel, by bus, to West Monroe.
