New Orleans, La. -- The coroner has sealed up the New Orleans East Home of 33-year-old Tanyana Elliot. She was last seen at the home in the 14700 block of Beekman Road.
"Something wrong and we knew it," said Elliot's sister Sharon Smith.
Smith says, sometime between Monday night and Tuesday morning, her sister vanished. "We figured she had to be kidnapped or something because she don't just leave children like that," Smith told FOX 8.
Elliot was reported missing from her home on Tuesday. Her body was discovered just two miles away Wednesday night.
According to police, Elliot was found inside a white Chevrolet Colorado pick-up truck. It was parked in the rear of the Wind Run Apartments complex. Family members tell FOX 8 they don't know anyone who drives that type of vehicle and they don't know anyone living in that complex.
Police say Elliot had been shot multiple times.
"It's a numb feeling to know that your little baby sister was shot up like that," said Smith. "It's sad."
Smith also lost a brother to New Orleans gun violence. She says he was shot three times in the head in 1994.
That brother was Jarnesha Cooley's father. She lost her dad when she was 2. At age 19, she has lost her aunt.
"That's the only person I could really count on... but someone took her away," said Cooley.
Elliot has also been taken away from her two young children. Family members say they have no idea why anyone would want to hurt Tanyana Elliot. They say, if anyone knows something they don't, now is the time to speak up.
"Please just talk. It's time to come together," said Smith. "We are losing too many people. Females getting killed like this. We're already losing our males, our children. We need help."
According to the NOPD, detectives interviewed Elliot's boyfriend Thursday morning. He was the person who first reported her missing.
Police have not named a suspect or released a motive in this case.
