Early morning crash kills one

St. Helena Parish, La.– Police are looking for help to identify a woman that was killed in an early morning crash Saturday on LA 37.

The crash happened around 2:45 a.m. on LA 37, about one mile north of LA 63.

Investigators say the unidentified driver is described as a white female.

Police say the crash occurred as a 2011 Buick LaCrosse was traveling south on LA 37 when it traveled off the roadway to the left for unknown reasons.  

The Buick then struck several trees prior to coming to rest on the east side of the highway.  

The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by the St. Helena Parish Coroner's Office.  

Police say the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol use is unknown at this time pending the results of a toxicology exam.

The crash is still under investigation and police are trying to identify the driver.
