Hammond, La.- Police say a man who is suspected to have robbed people at ATM machines three times was shot and killed early Saturday morning.

Police were notified of a man shot around 12:03 a.m. at the Capital One Bank on South Morrison Blvd. by customers coming to use the ATM machine.

A spokesman for the Hammond Police Department identifies the deceased man as 20-year-old Thomas Anthony Evans Jr. from the Oak Ridge Church Road area in Kentwood.

Investigators believe Evans is the same suspect seen in surveillance video from previous robberies once at the Capital One and twice at Whitney Bank.

Police say  Evans was armed with a silver revolver, which matched the description of the weapon used in the other three cases.

This incident is currently being investigated as a homicide.

Detectives believe they will be able to name a suspect in the shooting by Monday after they can review surveillance video from the bank.

Hammond Police are working with both banks in the case.
