Bedico, La. – Investigators say a Covington man, who is accused in a Tangipahoa hit and run, appeared to be intoxicated as he hid in the woods from police. 44-year-old Preston Mooney has been identified as a suspect in a hit and run accident on Monday night on Traino Landing Road in Bedico.
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards says his deputies spotted Mooney hiding in a wooded area and arrested him. Edwards says a concerned citizen helped deputies locate Mooney after he allegedly fled on foot following his involvement in a nearby car accident.
Mooney was arrested and transported to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. He has been charged with hit and run driving, careless operation, third offense DWI and driving with a suspended license.
