Man dies in New Orleans apartment fire

New Orleans, La. - A one-alarm fire killed a 44 year-old man in the Uptown area Thursday morning.

It happened around 3a.m. in the 8300 block of Oak Street. The building is next door to Jaques-Imo's Restaurant.

Investigators say it was an accident caused by smoking.

Authorities say the victim was in a second story apartment.

His identity has not released his identity.

The fire caused damage to two other apartments in the building.
