City council gives green light to build Costco

The New Orleans City Council gives a unanimous thumbs up to building a Costco in Mid-City.

The city council voted Thursday to allow the 148,000 square foot facility to open at the old Carrollton Shopping Center site in Mid-City.

Costco is the second largest U.S. based retailer.

It offers members a wide range of products from automotive supplies to groceries and appliances.

Costco expects to open the store next year and create about 200 full and part time jobs.
