Jefferson, La. - Jefferson Parish officials say there will be no garbage collection on Wednesday, July 4, but there will be recycling collection.
If your garbage is normally picked up on Wednesday, then it will not be collected until Saturday, July 7. The new curbside recycling program begins on July 2 in Jefferson Parish.
"We want all residents to be able to participate in the curbside recycling program in its inaugural week," reads a news release from parish government.
A list of items you can and cannot recycle follow:
Accepted Materials: -Paper
- Boxboard
- Cardboard
- Aluminum
- Steel
- Plastic
Materials not accepted: - glass containers
- containers that chemicals, pesticides, etc.
- plastic grocery bags
- styrofoam egg cartons, packing peanuts
- aerosol spray cans
- food and beverage container with wax coating
