Fugitive captured in Lafourche Parish

Updated:

Galliano, La. - Lafourche Parish deputies say a fugitive tried to commit suicide rather than be taken into custody.

Deputies acting on a tip found Nicholas John Dalby at a house in Galliano Sunday.

Investigators say Dalby spotted the deputies and ran to the attic where he slashed his wrists.

Deputies found him with a knife and gun nearby.

The officers used a taser to subdue Dalby as they struggled to take him into custody in the confined space.

After treatment for his wounds, Deputies booked Dalby on 16 contempt of court warrants for failure to appear in court.

Dalby was already facing an assortment of charges, including aggravated arson, domestic abuse and drug charges.
