New Orleans, La. - NASA's Michoud plant workers get the attention of the entire nation with the debut of their new Orion capsule.

They showed off the capsule at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida Monday..

"Orion is ushering in a new era of space exploration beyond our home planet, enabling us to go further than we've ever gone before. The future is here now," said Kennedy Space Center director Robert Cabana.

The new capsule, which is built at the Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, is likely to send humans to the moon and Mars in the future.

The next step for Orion includes having NASA engineers install hardware and components in preparation for a test flight.
