New Orleans Police say they've identified two suspects in the theft of ten baby alligators stolen from the Audubon Zoo swamp exhibit gift shop July 4th.

The day after the theft, an Irish Channel resident alerted police that she'd seen a man drop a plastic tub with eight baby alligators inside.

The witness gave police a description of the vehicle and the men inside.

Later that same night, Jefferson Parish deputies stopped a vehicle that had been reported stolen and during the search they found one baby alligator.

Police issued a warrant for Rodney Thornton and Kawayne Powell charging them with possession of stolen property.
