Deputies investigate site in connection with missing Lafayette college student

Updated:

SWORDS, La. (AP) - St. Landry Parish sheriff's deputies have brought cadaver dogs to a site about two miles from the home of a man booked with murder in connection with the disappearance of a Lafayette college student.

Sheriff Bobby Guidroz says his office was tipped about a possible grave near St. Ann's Catholic Church in the community of Swords.

He says the site looks like a grave but his deputies were not sure whether it was one.

It's about two miles from the Lawtell home of Brandon Lavergne, who has been booked with aggravated kidnapping and first-degree murder of Mickey Shunick.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette student has been missing since May 19.
