New Orleans, LA- A precautionary boil water advisory will be issued for all of Venetian Isles and Chef Menteur Highway from Industrial Parkway to Ft. McComb Road in eastern New Orleans on Monday at 9 a.m.
The boil order will happen because of planned repairs to thirteen hydrants and several valves in the area. The repairs are scheduled to begin on Monday at 9 a.m. and last until 6 p.m.
Pressure is expected to be extremely low during this period. Once repairs begin the Sewerage and Water Board in consultation with the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH) will issue a precautionary boil water advisory that will be in effect until further notice.
The Board is recommending that customers disinfect their water by boiling it for one minute and letting it cool down prior to consumption (including drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, bathing or preparing food).
Boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one-minute boil time begins
after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (If there is a flat taste, it can be
eliminated by shaking the water in a bottle or pouring it from one container to
another.)
Due to the fact that this interruption of service is planned, the Sewerage and Water Board will provide a designated amount of water to each household from Sunday through Tuesday.
This boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice for customers in the affected area. The Sewerage and Water Board will notify residents when the advisory is lifted.
