Houma, La. - A Bayou Blue man who had been booked with helping his wife kill herself has committed suicide, according the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter.
Early Thursday morning, the Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a motorist who spotted a man's body in the front yard of a home in west Houma.
Investigators found the body of 69-year-old Charles Fanguy.
He had a single gunshot wound to the head which investigators believe was self-inflicted.
Just one day earlier, detectives arrested Fanguy and booked him with criminal assistance to suicide. He posted bond Wednesday afternoon.
Betty Fanguy died on May 17 in the couple's home.
Alcohol and prescription pills contributed to her death.
Detectives say Charles Fanguy confessed to several acquaintances that he helped his wife end her life by giving her pills after finding her injured from a fall inside their home.
Investigators say Betty Fanguy had a number of medical issues and had shown suicidal tendencies.
