New Orleans, La. -

A group of taxi companies wants a judge to block city-ordered reforms that are set to take effect next month.

Six cab companies and three individuals filed a class action lawsuit and requested a temporary restraining order.   A Civil Court official says Judge Kern Reese in Division "L" will hold a hearing at a date to be determined.

The New Orleans City Council passed 27 ordinances in April.   In addition to changing the permitting process, cabs will be required to have GPS devices, credit card machines and security cameras.  The ordinances also prevent cabbies from driving vehicles older than 10 years.

Some drivers say they can't afford the changes.
