New Orleans, La. -- The New Orleans metro area spent Saturday drying out following the downpour that flooded homes, streets and businesses.
While Terrebonne, Lafourche and Plaquemines Parishes reported heavy rains Saturday morning, Orleans and Jefferson Parishes were spared the sort of flash flooding that caused so many problems Friday.
FOX 8 News returned to Franklin Avenue, where dozens of cars were left overnight after they stalled during the Friday afternoon deluge.
While most the flooded cars have been towed, there were two men who were trying to repair their vehicles, hoping to get them started and dry out soaked floor-mats.
"Out here with my mechanic trying to get it started. He says it looked like my starter got wet," said motorist Donnie Washington.
"So now I'm just trying to put the oil in, put starter fluid, the transmission and see if we can get it started. As of now it looks like we're out of a car," said motorist Richard Davis.
Near Basin and Claiborne Avenue, a barber rushed to cleanup his shop.
"We had a foot right here and the back about eight inches. They had mud everywhere. We mopped it all up and we still have a lot of extensive cleaning up to do," said barber Preston Carmon.
