JP teachers demand new contract before school year

Updated:

Some Jefferson Parish teachers aren't giving up their fight for a collective bargaining agreement.  They turned out at a school board meeting Wednesday evening to press for the new contract before the school year.

The board approved individual contracts for more than 3,000 teachers in the parish.

The teachers, though, aren't happy.  They still want a collective bargaining agreement.

Negotiations toward a CBA continue, but the individual contracts are in place.  Teachers have raised concerns about those, in great part because they say a lot of their key issues have not been addressed in them.
